“Quality in Esophagoscopy. Screening, diagnosis and treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus”
The development of endoscopic imaging and terapeutic techniques have changed the dignosis from clearly visible advanced neoplasms to the detection of subtle alterations, corresponding an early stage of the disease. Esophageal cancer acconted for 407,000 deaths, with 482,000 new cases in 2008. This corresponds to eighth most common cancer worldwide and the sixth cause of death from cancer. From esophageal cancers, 90% are squamous cell carcinoma (Goda K et al. 2015). Despite technological advances, the prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma continues poor, since most of them are dignosed in advanced-stage. To improve this scenario, it is necessary to reduce risk factors, to increase the early dignosis and effective treatment.Connection Method
