Hemostasis in Upper GI Bleeding, Histoacryl Injection, Obstructive Jaundice

1st Case: A 60-years old woman was admitted to the hospital for GI endoscopy. The patient was referred from district hospital with melena and was diagnosed gastric bleeding. She had chronic hepatitis C since 2010, and underwent peg-interferon therapy for 6 months. She also had thrombocytopenia. No other metabolic syndrome was noted upon admission. EGD was performed and revealed fundal varices. Then, she would be scheduled for histoacryl injection procedure. Patient was discharged one day after endoscopy. No bleeding was noted during hospitalization. 2nd Case: A 75-years old man, admitted to emergency department with 6 hours of severe hematemesis and syncope. He denied abdominal pain. Past history included hypertension, hyperlipidemia and osteoarthritis. Medications included ASA (80 mg daily for the past 20 years), amlodipine, atorvastatin and celecoxib 200 mg as needed for his joint pain which had been stopped for 2 weeks before he was admitted to the hospital. He did not smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol, and there was no personal or family history of GI bleeding, esophageal or gastric cancer. Pertinent physical examination findings included blood pressure 70/40 mmHg, heart rate 120 bpm and oxygen saturation 90% on room air. There were no stigmatas of chro
